Upendra Subba — Writer & Director
A celebrated poet, lyricist, and filmmaker from Panchthar, Upendra Subba is a leading figure of the Srijanshil Arajakta (Creative Anarchy) literary movement. His transition to directing with Jaari has redefined the commercial potential of ethnic cinema in Nepal, proving that authentic indigenous stories can dominate the box office.
As the lead writer of the Kabaddi franchise (1–4), he shaped the legendary character “Kaji” — a cultural icon in Nepalese popular cinema. His work bridges literary depth with cinematic accessibility.
